Michael Johansen serves as the Flight Demonstration Lead in the Game Changing Development Program, where he leverages his hands-on experience to coordinate the development and demonstration of innovative technologies within the GCD Program’s portfolio. Previously, he was a Technical Integration Manager in NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate, focusing on developing technical and investment strategies for lunar dust mitigation technologies. He also developed several technologies as a Principal Investigator at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. Through his many roles, Michael has fostered partnership and collaboration across the Agency ensuring that strategic goals were effectively translated to actionable outcomes.
Michael earned a B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He was selected to represent NASA at International Space University’s Space Studies Program in 2017. He is the recipient of NASA’s Silver Achievement Medal and STMD’s Exceptional Achievement Award.
